Which countries recognise the FI mark?

The FI mark is well known in all the countries of the European Economic Area verifying the conformity of the product with safety requirements. It also provides the basis for certification in many other countries. The FI mark has thus become a strong asset for products on increasingly competitive Finnish and other European markets.

For which product types are the FI mark granted?

Usually Finnish SFS standards, European EN standards or worldwide IEC standards are used as a requirement for FI mark testing or certification. The FI mark is thus valid for most electrical equipment and installation, machinery and gas appliances.

The conditions for granting the FI mark

• Written order
• Type testing in a competent laboratory
• Certification assessment and decision made by either SGS Fimko or Inspecta.

The FI-certification will be valid under the condition that:

• Annual production audits are executed
• The manufactured products are similar as the type-tested
• Surveillance fee is paid annually for each product type. The use of the certification marks are supervised and the register of certified products is maintained with the fee
• In addition to production inspections the use of the FI mark is also supervised with market control using random tests on products.
